He was a <a href=\"http:\/\/members.chello.nl\/j.seegers1\/flux_files\/brecht.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">student<\/a> in the Experimental Composition class which John Cage gave at the New School in New York in the late 1950s, Regretting that I was born too late to join this class*, I took the next best step, which was to track down a copy of Brecht&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/George-Brecht-Notebooks-II-III\/dp\/B000Y8Z0QM\/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1229400900&amp;sr=1-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notebooks<\/a> in order to pore over his lecture notes taken in this class.&nbsp;&nbsp;His most recent exhibition was at MACBA, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.macba.es\/controller.php?p_action=show_page&amp;pagina_id=34&amp;inst_id=21037\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona<\/a>, in 2006.<\/p>\n<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n<p>The photo that was here showed Brecht performing &#8220;Drip Music&#8221; (1959): <em>&#8220;For single or multiple performance. A source of dripping water and an empty vessel are arranged so that the water falls into the vessel.&#8221; <\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n<p>* I did once take a composition class with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.australianmusiccentre.com.au\/artist\/penberthy-james\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gentleman Jim Penberthy<\/a>&nbsp;(1917-1999), which makes me a grand-pupil of Nadia Boulanger.
