{"id":165,"date":"2008-11-03T16:30:13","date_gmt":"2008-11-03T16:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/meeseeks:5080\/blog\/?p=165"},"modified":"2008-11-03T16:30:13","modified_gmt":"2008-11-03T16:30:13","slug":"king-solomons-mines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vukutu.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/king-solomons-mines\/","title":{"rendered":"King Solomon&#039;s Mines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An archeological dig in Jordan has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/comment\/faith\/article5026509.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revealed<\/a> an ancient copper mine which could have been the site of King Solomon&#8217;s Mines.\u00a0\u00a0 Coincidentally, the great British artist and cartoonist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raylowry.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ray Lowry<\/a> passed away last <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mojo4music.com\/blog\/2008\/10\/post_31.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">month<\/a>.\u00a0 He was famous for his album covers for The Clash, and for his dark, anarchic cartoons.<br \/>\nOne Lowry cartoon I recall vividly showed a group of mid 19th-century European explorers\u00a0emerging from an African jungle into a clearing, in the midst of which could be seen a massive, late 20th-century petrochemicals complex, surrounded by high fences and armed guards, with a big sign proclaiming:\u00a0 &#8220;King Solomon&#8217;s Mines:\u00a0 Keep Out&#8221;.\u00a0 One of the explorers turns to his colleague to say:\u00a0 &#8220;Oh my God, we&#8217;re too late!\u00a0 They&#8217;ve already been nationalized!&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An archeological dig in Jordan has revealed an ancient copper mine which could have been the site of King Solomon&#8217;s Mines.\u00a0\u00a0 Coincidentally, the great British artist and cartoonist Ray Lowry passed away last month.\u00a0 He was famous for his album covers for The Clash, and for his dark, anarchic cartoons.
